More Time With Family & Friends

The important people in our lives often get the least amount of our time. It’s sad but true.

It is also difficult at times to find things to do together, other than see a movie and then are you really spending time “together”? Does physically sitting next to each other in a theater or on a sofa to watch a dvd count as time together?

So, it’s January 1, the feeling of a new beginning. The relief that we have left that old year behind, the slate is wiped clean.

Many of us will set some time today to decide what needs to change for the next year, how to accomplish these items and then let them slip way maybe by March, some times we will hold on to them even until June.

A bluegrass-gospel festival that started as a family get-together to honor the late Eugene Hubbard has turned into an annual fundraiser that last year brought in $3,000 for Lou Gehrig’s disease.

It’s the third year for Noblesville Police Sgt. Rich Hubbard’s Mountain Music in the Forest. This year’s pickin’ party, live and silent auction, and pitch-in meal will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park, Shelter No. 1, 701 Cicero Road. Admission is free.

Wednesday Whiskers

The top 5 reasons people surrender their pets to our facility are:

  1. We’re moving and can’t keep our pet. If there is a move planned in your future, you must ensure you can have pets and that there aren’t any breed specific guidelines that will prevent you from keeping your pet. Ask landlords for their pet policy and ask for something in writing that indicates you meet the requirements to have a pet.
  2. Financial hardship. Pets are expensive. They get sick, they require preventative care so they don’t get sick such as heartworm preventative and dental care, not to mention the cost of boarding should you travel and providing good food. You must take these things into consideration before taking on a new dependant.
  3. Behavioral issues. It is truly amazing how many people will surrender their dogs or cats because of behavioral issues when the family has never provided any training to the animal or explored potential health problems that might be creating the behavior.
